don’t give up on friend: revisited

Sore kemarin seorang teman yang lama tak muncul di belantara messenger tiba-tiba menyapa dan mengajak bergosip ria. Awalnya aku agak malas menanggapi karena terkait dengan satu topik yang selalu memicu energi negatif thus selalu ingin kuhindari. But what a friend’s for if not to lend you ears when you need..he..he.. Apalagi ini tentang temannya that happened to be my friend as well. Dia ingin menyelamatkan teman kami itu, katanya.

Long long time ago aku pernah menjadi seorang idealis seperti temanku itu. Never give up on friend. There have to be some reasons behind everything, even the ones that’ve pissed you off. Seringkali kita terlalu reflektif dan bertanya pada diri kita: what did I do wrong (that I deserve such thing happened to me). Tapi pengalaman mengajarkan bahwa seringkali it’s not about you at all. It’s not about your doing something wrong. It is just a part of the story of our lives. C’est la vie. Dan yang kita perlukan seringkali hanyalah kemauan untuk berdamai dengan diri kita sendiri, seperti wejangan seorang teman yang pernah kucurhati. Tidak gampang memang.

People change. What is shown on the surface doesn’t always reflect what’s inside. Kalau ingin jawaban atas pertanyaan kita, so ask then. Tapi kalau tak juga kita dapatkan jawabannya, then maybe that’s the time to just let go dan mencoba berdamai dengan diri kita. Not everybody wants to be our friends. And you can’t make everybody your friends either. So be it. Dan pada saat muncul kekesalan (we’re only human anyway), just say this outloud to yourself: it’s their lost!
